What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of medical conditions. It works with the structure and function of the body and is based on the principle that the well-being of an individual depends on the skeleton, muscles, ligaments and connective tissues functioning smoothly together.

For your body to work well, its structure must also work well. Osteopaths work to restore your body to a state of balance, where possible without the use of drugs or surgery. Osteopaths use touch, physical manipulation, stretching and massage to increase the mobility of joints, relieve muscle tension, enhance the blood and nerve supply to tissues, and to help your body’s own healing mechanisms.

Advice on posture and exercise to aid recovery, promote health and prevent symptoms recurring may also be incorporated.

Andrea qualified in Holistic Therapies in 2002 and gained a diploma in Sports Massage Therapy in 2019. In 2023, she further expanded her expertise by earning a certificate in dry needling and completing a Master's Degree from the prestigious European School of Osteopathy.

Andrea's journey into osteopathy began in the early 2000s when she worked as a dental nurse alongside international speaker, author and systemic dentist, Dr. Bill Kellner-Read. His 'wholistic' approach deeply inspired her. This approach involved assessing and treating stress, head, neck and back pain of dental origin as they related to the bite, the jaw joints and the musculature. Further reduction of stress being achieved by reducing overall toxic load on the system.

Witnessing the positive impact of a multidisciplinary approach, where dentists collaborated with osteopaths, chiropractors, and physiotherapists to enhance overall structural and functional health, motivated Andrea to pursue a career in osteopathy.

As a dedicated practitioner, Andrea passionately believes in a holistic approach to well-being, focusing on techniques that harness the body's natural healing abilities. her tailored treatments are designed to meet each individual's unique needs, ensuring positive outcomes. She also values collaborative care and actively engages in a patient-centred approach, both referring and accepting referrals to optimise her patients' health.

What Our Patients Say...

review

Rylan

"I have autism and ADHD. Cranial osteopathy has really helped me with the stress of big changes in my life. Far more than all the talking therapies and play therapy I've had. Kerry always explains to me what she is going to do before she does it. I really recommend it."
